This is a topic to report any issues with MP3 Skype Recorder v.3.1

If you have any problem please post below. Please indicate your OS and Skype version.

Hi I have a new Windows 8 computer. I have a Skype app Version Will mp3 Skype recorder work with this? The program starts up at start up and it says ready to record, but I can find a way to call Skype to get it connected via a 3 way call. I don't get the message asking for authorization to connect to Skype. Is this app different that regular Skype. Will Mp3 recorder work with the Skype App? I tried to download a regular Skype program, but it automatically went to the app version.
Thank you for your help in advance.

I'm using Skype 6.6 and the 3.1 version of the recorder.
I get a file per conversation, but it seems to only record my voice. I tried stereo and joint-stereo (but shouldn't be related to the problem, should it?)

When using Skype, I use the microphone built-in in the laptop and headphones to listen. Is that incompatible with the recorder?

Skype calls to users with live id are not saved. This is likely caused by the fact that live id users (microsoft accounts) have their skype name under the format live:username. The colon in the name is a forbbiden Windows file name character.

It reproduces everytime under Windows 7 with either receiving or calling a skype live account.

my recorder is only recording the voice at the other end and not my voice! i have tried it with mono stereo split stereo , and have also tried external and internal mic and do not understand why this is not working. It is just not recording my side of the conversation.I have also tried deleteing and re-downloading all to no avail. HELP please!

Hi I'm running skype I'm running windows 7 home premium and I have the latest version of mp3 recording. When I try to record with the Mp3 Recorder I press the recorder and when I'm done I hit stop and when I go to the place where I have them saved they. don't show up. Please help!

How do I get started? I have registered and logged in to this account, downloaded the software but it does not show up on my Skype page.

Win 7
Mp3 Recorder 3.1

When a SKYPE call starts , the recorder pops up the CALL RECORDING window
A datestamped file is created in the correct folder (but not an MP3)
Call ends...file remains at 0kb (still not an MP3)

Checked the Firewall and the app IS in the 'allowed' list

This used to work fine...what has happened?

I've been using this for 2 months and it worked fine.  Yesterday it didn't.  It wouldn't record the call, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, now all I get is a bar along the bottom of my screen with the name MP3SkypeRecorder but it won't even open.  I used to have a popup with the record, stop buttons, I can't get that now.

Same problem here until I wsa able to move the program from running minimised. I don't know if this is related but I just did a Java upgrade on ahunch.  I'm using Skype 11 and MP3 Skyperecorder 3.1 on XP. I have checked out the recording folder, the firewall, the permission in Skype and even my anti virus exception list. Everything I could find on the error resolution forum, I have tried. I am still unable to get the recorder to record either automatically or manually a skype call. THis was working fine till yesterday. BTW I've had this problem before and once by merely changing the recording location, I was able to get the recorder jump started but this time, I seem to be stuck. It's such a handy software, I would hate to see it go. Upgrading to OSs beyond XP is not an option currently. Please help.

Hi so I create youtube videos and I use Dxtory to record it. Sadly, it couldn't really quite record skype audio calls. I have tried other recording devices like bandicam in the past but to no avail. So I was wondering if Free Skype call recorder had a hotkey button so that it synchronizes with my recording like for example my hotkey for recording is F12 so I want to set a hotkey for the skype recorder as well. Is there ths function?

My MP3 Skype Recorder stopped recording conversations with one particullat caller.

I have alredy four conversations recorded with this caller without any problems, but last recording din't result in any new file.

I've tested the recording with Skype Echo and with another caller - everything fine.

The only way I was able to record my conversation today with my "problem caller" was trough Skype conference.

Any suggestions?

After Windows Update couple months ago, "MP3 Skype Recorder" stopped working.
I deleted it and tried to re-install.
I am getting message: "Error 1001. Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Configuration system failed to initialize.

I have Windows XP and Skype Version

Please advise.

I did. First I deleted config file, eventually deleted the whole directory ..\Alexander_Nikiforov.
Still the installation process replies with the same message as before.

In my case config file was located in C:\Documents and Settings\Mark\Local Settings\Application Data\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_rttyapoey00k3qd0mc3ntgkhl5tno54t\

Any other suggestions?

Installation messageBox doesn't have details. so without closing the dialog box (which deletes just installed application) I invoked application itself and here is the information from it's "details":

I'm running Windows 8 and installed Skype for Windows 8. I just tried installing MP3 Skype Recorder and it's telling me I need to have the .NET Framework 2.0 or greater to be able to install it. However, Windows 8 tells me that I already have the .NET 4.5 installed.

How can I resolve this problem?

Thanks for the software. I'm running Windows 7 Professional. After installing MP3 Skype Recorder, Skype reports "We want to let you know that your MP3 Skype Recorder.exe app will stop working with Skype starting in December 2013." Is this something you plan to fix? If not, would you consider releasing MP3 Skype Recorder as open source so that someone else might fix it?

GUI - Graphical user interface. I'm pretty sure it will be ready. Alternatively you can skip update of Skype in December or return to previous version of Skype and keep using current version of MP3 Skype recorder

How do I share the recording?  I recorded a call with a client and when I sent them the recording and they tried to open it, it said they could not access it as they didn't have 'permission' or something like that?  Help!

The recordings are mp3 files. You should be able to copy or attach them to email as any other file on your computer. Make sure that the recording is finished and not opened in any player before moving mp3 files.

I would like to know if MP3 Skype Recorder will be compatible with Skype after December 2013 following Skype’s decision to discontinue the Desktop API.  If not, are there any plans to make it compatible?  Thanks for this great software, by the way.  Even if this is the end it was good while it lasted!

Hi.  I'm running Win 7, with Skype

Calls are recording fine, but for random amounts of time, mostly around the 30 seconds to 5 minute mark.   The call records automatically when I make or receive a call, and the pop-up tells me it has finished recording when the call ends, as I would expect, but the output file is a much shorter duration than the call was.

Additionally, looking more into it, I made a number of calls today, yet it only auto recorded one of them (which was a two hour call, but it only captured 37 seconds).

I'm running the newest version of your software (4.0).

Any ideas?

I had the same problem today. I'm on Windows 7 and have the 4.0 version of your recorder and Skype I've only tried recording once before which was a 3 minute call. That seemed to recorder completely. The call today was 39 minutes but only the first 23 minutes were recorded.

Please accept my apologies for writing you asking about this. I have just taken a 2 hour 45 minute recording using your excellent software,
MP3 Skype Recorder and I have been interviewing in a very rare interview a scientist renowned for his work with electrical transformers and it was the most amazing interview I have ever done!

The MP3 file is succesfully written and has a length of the full interview , 2 hours and 45 minutes in length. The problem that has arisen is that after the recording gets to 1 hours and 55 seconds this horrible distortion sound and garbled noise is throughout the rest of the mp3 recording that has been encoded by the recording software, and the whole other hour and three quarters of the interview is completely inaudible. Please can you tell me there might be a way to recover it?

Is there is anything I can do? I believe MP3 Skype Recorder has written something, but somehow something didnt get converted for the last hour and 45 minutes?

Please help me as the recording is really important and if the rest of the interview was lost it would be an irrecoverable loss to humanity!!

Please - anything you can do to help! I am using 64bit Windows 7, Skype Version

Best Wishes,

Please respond as soon as you can :( We are completely beside ourselves here and don't know what to do.

Your program recorded the entire clear and sucessful interview and skype call, there is 2 hours and 45 minutes of the recording. But only can hear us up to 1 hour and 55 seconds :( It is so sad, please tell me there is something that could be done?

Desperately in need of your help, pleaase!

Best Wishes,

Hello and thanks for your product. I am using skype, with XP sp3 (32 bit), I am using MP3 Skype recorder 3.1.

Until recently it has worked fine, but now fails to record my voice (outgoing). This incoming is recorded. I don't know where to start, and as I am on XP, I cannot just upgrade to v4.1

Can you help please?

I installed MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1.
But when I check Skype menu -> Tools -> Options -> Advanced tab -> Manage other programs' access to Skype, MP3 Skype recorder isn’t in the list of programs!!! What must I do?
OS - Windows7 Skype version 6.11

Windows XP.
