Posted on: Fri, 11/18/2011 - 00:22 By: VOIP

This is a topic to report any issues with MP3 Skype Recorder v.3.1

If you have any problem please post below. Please indicate your OS and Skype version.

If you just installed try to restart the computer. If you still get no authorisation message, go to Skype upper menu. Click Tools->Options->Advanced tab->Manage other programs' access to Skype (bottom of the window). Look for MP3SkypeRecorder.exe and check if to is marked as Allowed to use Skype. If not then click Change and OK to save changes.

The Skype version I´m using is The OS is Windows Vista Professional 32 bits.
I had installed MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1.
The Recorder connects with Skype but never writes any MP3 files.
Can you help me to solve this issue?.

MP3 Skype recorder was tested with this version of Skype and should be working fine. Please check that recording button is pressed so the recording is starting automatically. Check that you have selected existing target folder for recordings and you have sufficient right to write/save files in that folder. Are you sure that the recorder is connected to Skype?. Click Tools->Options->Advanced tab->Manage other programs' access to Skype(bottom of the window). Look for MP3SkypeRecorder.exe and check if to is marked as Allowed to use Skype. If not then click Change and OK to save changes.

I am having the same problem with the new Skype version update to, where MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1 does not work in Windows 7.   But it did work fine until this new Skype update today.
Thank you in advance for your help.   Darlene

Windows 7 + Skype just tested and working fine.
Check access permissions as described below.
Try to restart the computer, if it doesn't help try reinstallation.

I've been really happy with this skype recorder which I've been using a couple of years now.  However, today for the first time, the recording didn't record, even though it showed it was 'on'.  Could there be a conflict with having a recording in Quick Time open but on pause??  And might it have put it somewhere else?  I've searched and can't find it, certainly not in the MP3 file where it usually saves it.
Many thanks

Quick Time shouldn't interfere with Skype recorder in any known way. Please update your MP3 Skype recorder to version 3.2. There are status bar showing actual recording progress, so you can be sure that the recordings is actually in progress.

Using windows xp sp3. Skype Recorder 3.1, Skype
Calls record but playback is full of scratches and pops as if the audio is clipping.
I have tried 32 and 64 bit.  I have adjusted the speaker setting on the PC and on Skype: no effect.
Any suggestions for getting clear recordings?

I'm having a problem with my recording conferences. The program records calls just fine, however when I try to record during a conference call, I get the 0kb recording error. I'm running version 3.1 of the recorder on Skype in Windows 7 Home Premium.

Please can you help me sort out this recorder problem  - I am a  nontechie 70 yr old so please be patient with me
I have the 3.1 recorder downloaded and have windows XP
But somehow I can't get it to work - no mp3 files appear in the folder.

What happens is that I click on the icon and the recorder appears on the screen with the three buttons at the top Recorder On, Recorder Off and a Play button.
So I press the Recorder on button and it says at the bottom on the panel Recorder On but when I go to the folder where the mp3s should be - there's nothing there.
I saw this page here - something about allowing access, but I can't quite understand what it's saying:

Allow access page
I did get a similar panel come up with that red 'allow authorisation' bar at the bottom but then I clicked on Record On button and the red bar disappeared.
I also saw one of your replies in which you suggested I go to Tools/ Advanced and Manage other prog access but I can't find Manage Other Prog Access under th Advanced tab.
Thanks so much for running this help line - so many software people don't do it and it is very much appreciated. My email is

Recording button should be pressed. You actually need to click it only once. Once  the recording is ON, it should record all calls automatically.
Open Skype. Click Tools->Options->Advanced tab->Manage other programs' access to Skype(bottom of the window). Look for MP3SkypeRecorder.exe and check if to is marked as Allowed to use Skype. If not then click Change and OK to save changes.

go to the mp3 skype recorder.exe folder and right click on the .exe for the recorder u should see something that says enable/ disable blah blah.. under open when u right click. CLICK THAT and after u do it should let u locate a program to open it with find skype.exe program ...mine is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\" once u find the skype.exe open it with it and it should work fine if not the first time do it again untill skype will ask u to allow access !

Whenever I am using this recorder it records fine but the other side can't hear me the moment I start recording how do I fix this?

Normally there is no difference which version of Skype is used. It is woking with all versions. But it looks like there are some bug in your case. Probably reinstallation of Skype will help.

I'm having a problem with v3.1 similar wot what others are, it refuses to actually record anything. I've tried several times to record a call but every time I stop recording and check the folder where the recording should be there are no files at all. I have the latest version of Skype(5.10), I've allowed access to Skype, and the Windows Fireall has v3.1 as an exception. I don't understand why it isn't working. Please help.
OS: Windows 8 Consumer Preview 64-Bit

I've tried it on Win 8 64 bit and it worked, but after I installed .Net Framework 2 ( I think you did this otherwise it will not install) and after I restarted the computer.

Is recording button pressed? It should be in order to record automatically. Try not to stop recording just leave it pressed, then make a call, finish it and look for recording.

i have windows vista home premium
i've used the recorder in the past and it worked perfectly. then it stopped working.
i uninstalled and reinstalled the recorder.
I recorded a really important conversation last week. It showed it was recording. When i clicked play to see the file, it's not there. I  can't locate it.
I had another skype call today which i also recorded. It again showed it was recording but again i can't locate the file.
I have emailed you about this issue.
Please can you tell me where the file might be? If it showed it was 'recording' can i safely assume i have the file somewhere.
i need to know if i can trust this software or if i should find something else that is reliable.
thanks for your help on this.

The path to the recording folder is shown in the middle of Skype recorder window. If you are using the latest version 3.1 it is showing actual size of recording done so far during conversation. You can see it in the status bar - bottom of MP3 Skype recorder window. The size is updating while you talking to show actual size of the recording file, so you can always know if the recording is actually done.
If you have problems with the recordings, please check that no personal firewall is blocking connection (audio stream) between Skype and Skype recorder. Check that your windows user have enough permission to create files in chosen recording folder, just try to create any text file in that folder.

When I start my computer up  mp3 recorder fails and I get  .net error.
I am using windows 7 64 bit with all the latest updates installed. I have reinstalled MP3 Recorder and .Net and I am still getting the same error.
Does anyone have any Ideas what is going wrong here.
Thanks in advance.
below is the error I am getting:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

    < jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

File C:\Users\Turbo\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_bseom1xm3zk0xnc4bhdwumdycaacpllp\\user.config is corrupted. Delete it and restart recorder. It will create a new one.

Hi i am having some trouble when i use it to record my skype calls the person on the other end of the phone cant hear me but the recorder records both ends of the convo is there anyway to fix this?

HI I am using the lasts version of Skype and 3.1 of MP3 recorder with windows 2010. The recorder is creating a file every time I use skype, but the files are empty, meaning that I cannot playback the recording.   I have tried all the adjustments without success.  Can you please assist.

Never heard of Windows 2010. Anyway it looks like something is blocking audio stream between Skype and Skype recorder. Please check that no personal firewall (including Windows firewall) is blocking it. If it is the case add an exception for it.

Hiya, I have just downloaded Skype version 5.10 and MP3Skype Recorder 3.1.  I have Windows 7 64.  Neither seem to want to talk to each other.  I can ring the test call and record and hear on Skype - no probs.  I can press 'record' and the button changes on the MP3Skype Recorder but it seems to record nothing and certainly saves nothing.
Is the MP3 recorder now out of date with the Skype 5.10?  Non of the "first start and access" thing described in the manual happened.  Please help!  I've now spent hours trying to get audacity and now this to work and I only want to record information for my course with my lecturer.

The recorder was tested with latest version of Skype and it's working fine

right since yesterday mp3 skype recorder has just stoped working for no reason pleses make a update i have the same problem as the person befor me.

Skype recorder was tested with latest version, no update for MP3 Skype recorder required. Please try to reinstall the recorder, make complete uninstallation and reboot before installing once again.

Um any skype recorder does not work on my computer and I tried unistalling it and re-installing and it does not work. What can I do?

Need more details to help.
What do you mean by not working? Doesn't start? Doesn't record? Is it connected to Skype?
Did you check the following:
Open Skype. Click Tools->Options->Advanced tab->Manage other programs' access to Skype(bottom of the window). Look for MP3SkypeRecorder.exe and check if to is marked as Allowed to use Skype. If not then click Change and OK to save changes.

What if MP3SkypeRecorder does not show up in the list? My "manage other programs' access to skype", list in Skype is empty. MP3Skype Recorder stil shos "Waiting for Skype"

After recording I tried to open the file but then get message "file already in  use by another program...etc" tried to copy file it said file in use by MP3 recorder

I finish a recording and try to open the recording and it wont play no matter what program i use. i need to record using this unless there is anything else i can use to record skype sound i need help today i need to record something.

I and several employees share recordings from SKYPE RECORDER. Recently when we share a recording via an attachment to an email, only one side of the conversation can be heard. The other side is not even getting recorded. How can we fix this problem?

I'm using MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1 and Skype
I made a long conversation (more than 3 hours) yesterday in the evening and however I checked it more times if the recording is on, and I turned the rcording off, in the end there was no file in the folder to store the conversations. I looked for it all over the computer but I found nothing in the end. it's a shame because the conversation was an online interview for a research.
I used the program before for the same purpose and there was no problem. Now I made everything the same way like before. Two strange things happened during the conversation. Once the skype connection went wrong but only for a moment, we did not have to make a new call, and there was no sign that the recording turned off, I checked it. In the end there was no file neither from this part of the conversation. The second strange thing was that the recorder did not turned off itself in the end of the conversation like at other times, I had to push the stop button. And after that I wanted to check the quality of the record and I found ot that there is nothing to check.
Is there any possibility to find the file somewhere?
And what can I do if I want to make sure in the future the success of the recording? Do you have any suggestions? Is there any other software what I could use at the same time when I'm using Skype and the MP3 Skype recorder just to make it sure?
Thanks a lot in advance!

I found an error where the files are not being saved to the folder, skype did not promt allow acess and i can't locate the nessary files or anything else. help?
