This is a topic to report any issues with MP3 Skype Recorder v.3.1

If you have any problem please post below. Please indicate your OS and Skype version.

Помогите пожалуйста!  Не могу установить программу. ошибка 1001 Could not loud fail or assembly 'sorttbls.nlp' or one of its dependencies. Не удается открыть указанный файл --> Failure has occurred while loading a tape. Ошибка появляется когда установочная лента прокручена. после того как нажимаешь "ок" пишет: the installer was interrupted before MP*3 Skype recorder could be installed. You need restart the installer to try again.  пробовала много раз установить и перезагружала компьютер - одно и то же.
OS version Windows Sibir XP Turbo
Skype version 6.0

It looks like your .NET Framework 2.0 installation is corrupted on your system. You can try to fix it. Use System file checker tool. Start command prompt with Administrator privileges  and run:
sfc /scannow
If it doesn't help go to Control Panel->Add and Remove Programs. Look for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 in the list and click remove. Once finished restart the computer and start MP3 Skype recorder installation. It will automatically install .NET Framework 2.0 back.

Похоже, что .NET Framework 2.0 поврежден на Вашей системе. Можно попробовать поправить установку с помощью System file checker утилиты. Откройте командную строку под пользователем с правами Администратора и запустите следующую команду:
sfc /scannow

was wondering why I come get recorded loud and clear on my phone call yet the other callers voice does not record on the same volume.

The recorder gets audio stream directly from Skype as it is. You can try to adjust volume level of your mic in Windows settings, it should not change the final volume as Skype will be  automatically adjusting the volume by itself. Alternatively if the recording is stereo you can adjust balance between channels to level the volume.

I just downloaded the mp3 skype recorder 3.1 and it works great on my end but the voice on the other end is clipping and I can't seem to find a volumn control coming into the recorder on that end.  Is there a way for me to control the volumn coming into the recording on the other side?

System requirements:
..
.Net Framework 2.0 or later
..

I use Windows 8 Desktop. It has already .Net 4, but MP3 Skype Recorder v.3.1 does not use it and forces to download and install .Net 2!

That's the way Microsft .Net Framework works - you can only target single version. That's why multiple versions of .Net framwerok can be and usually are installed on OS. There are no problems with installing 2.0 version on Windows 8 it will have no influence nor interfere with later versions.
I have plans to switch to .Net Framework 4.0 in next version of recorder. But as I said there are nothing wrong with 2.0 and installing it on Win 8.

But on my system already installed .Net:

  • v1.0.3705
  • v1.1.4322
  • v2.0.50727
  • v4.0.30319

I checked out my %windir%\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\folder ...

Why install program tries to download and install .Net 2 ?

Please make the path text box editable, because using a folder browser means a path cannot be typed, and I cannot set the path to a network share that is hidden

I am not getting this message- when I donload the MP3 recorder and have tred downloadng skype and the recorder more than once. Can you advce please. Thanks

MP3 Skype Recorder will try to connect to Skype on the first start, and will be waiting for authorization.

Skype client will ask you for a permission to allow MP3 Skype Recorder to connect to Skype during the first start of the program.
Click Allow Access, as shown on the picture.

Hi! I don't know how to post a new error report. I can't even properly download the app. When I try to run the exe file, I just get text gibberish.

Hi there, I (Win 7, 64bit / Skype 6.0.0.126) have a problem with a Skype call I tried to record today. The recorded file is broken, the filesize is 0 byte and the filetype is not mp3. I tried out the software before and everything was fine, but this important call was not correctly recorded.

Could it be that the filesize of the recorded call is to big? The call lastet 1 hour 20 minutes and I recorded on bitrate = 64. All my test calls before were just a couple of minutes long.

And is there any way I can repair the corrupted recorded file of the call?

0 byte recording usually indicates that audio stream was blocked by personal firewall or you have another recorder and both recorders were trying to get audio from Skype.

Thank you for the reply. But I don't use another recorder and I don't think my firewall blocked the audio stream. I did another short test record that worked just fine, right after the failed recording. I didn't change any settings between those two recordings, the only difference to me is the length of the recorded calls.

I think it doesn't depend on the length of the recording. Instead, Facebook contact's recording will be corrupted as opposed to normal Skype-to-Skype calls.

I'm not sure if you can "repair" your corrupted file, but at least I know how to listen to the broken file, and, even better, create a legit mp3 file out of it (which at the end of the day it's almost the same as "repairing" it :))

Hi I have installed the application but is not working.
I'm using windows 7 Professional (64bit), Skype 6.0.0.126
When I opened skype no authorization has been required to activate the application. I look at Skype Options > Manage other program's access to skype and nothing appears there, niether.
What can I do?
Thanks!

I am having a problem where after I record, the file afterwards is not an .mp3 and is 0 KB in size. I have Windows 7 64-bit, I have also read a comment below redgarding this problem, my firewall allows it and the other person is not trying to record the call also. Also it works fine when I use the echo service but doesn't work with another person. Please help.

There should be no problems if the other person is trying to record. The problem could appear if you have more then one recorder on your PC. Make sure that you have allowed access to Skype under each Skype account you are trying to record.

I am getting crashes all the time with MP3 Skype Call Recorder on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate when most calls begin.  The MP3 files are being outputted to a Western digital 7.2k RPM drive and what will happen is that it will record for 1-4 seconds and then it will crash with the error below.

Diagnostic steps I have taken:
* Restart skype, MP3 Skype Recorder, & computer
* Reinstall skype (tried the latest version, v6 then tried older versions as well), reinstall skype recorder
* Replace lame_enc.dll with the latest copy from Audacity (this made the error happen less often but it still happens several times a day)

Here is the info from the Event Viewer:

It can be some other corrupted dll, not lame_enc.dll, causing the problem. Please try full reinstallation of recorder. Uninstall it from Control Panel -> Add&Remove programs. Delete the entire content of "C:\Program Files (x86)\MP3 Skype Recorder\" if anything left there. Install the recorder back and restart PC.
If that doesn't help this probably indicates that some Windows dll corrupted. You can try sfc /scannow command to scan Windows' system files.

 Hey guys,,,

My Skype Recorder also doesn't work.. After I installed it I open it and I choose the best settings but somehow I don't get a message on Skype that something wants to make "contact"... And it also doens't save files. Please help me, I want to make a Dual commentary

 Open Skype window.
Go to Tools->Options->Advanced
Click Manage other program's access to Skype in the bottom
Choose MP3 Skype Recorder and click Change
Change to Allowed access and save this by clicking OK

MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1 stopped connecting to Skype.
In Skype > Options > Advanced - MP3 Skype Recorder was not visible as an API.
I re-registered MP3 Skype Recorder using the process described on this website - it now shows as an API but when calling Skype Recorder now shows an error message " Could not connect to Skype"

I'm using Win 7HP and Outlook 2010.
I think the problem may have occurred with Skype upgraded to 6.1 and integration of Outlook contacts (??)
Any idea how to fix this??

 0kb non-mp3 files, AND I KNOW WHY :)

This only happens to FACEBOOK contacts, where the auto-generated filename includes the COLON punctuation sign ( ":" ) which is NOT ALLOWED by the Windows system.

I know this because I could hear my Facebook-recorded conversation, right after it ended, I clicked on the "link" from the MP3 Skype Recorder's pop-up message. It oppened Winamp, and I could read the complete filename from there, which includes a colon right after the word "fb" in the filename, followed by a long bunch of appearantly random letters and numbers. Please fix this! Thank you for reading :)

Just installed v.3.1 and everything is working fine except, when replaying the recording, I hear the person being called in one speaker, my voice in the other speaker, then my voice repeating my original comments again in the first speaker. . I would like to keep the stereo set up, rather than switch to mono.

Details:
Win 7 Pro, 64 bit.
Skype 5.10.0.16 (went back to this version as dial pad doesn't deliver correct tones for PSTN phones in latest Skype... well reported fault).
MP3 SR v.3.1 is set for start with windows, start minimized, stereo, bitrate 32.

Background:
I installed MP3 SR v.3.1 before I uninstalled previous version in a different directory. I have since uninstalled both versions and re-installed v.3.1 but the behaviour is still there.

Skype calls are not recording.
I run Windows 8, and just installed MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1
After installation, 3.1 reads, "Mp3 Skype Recorder started. Waiting for Skype."
I successfully launch and use Skype.
Skype does not prompt me to give permission to 3.1, and 3.1 is still "Waiting for Skype."

Problem solved...
The version of Skype that comes installed with Window 8 is awful.
It is inferior to the downloadable version from the website.
I deleted the version that came with Windows 8, and downloaded and installed the version available at skype.com.
The MP3 Skype Recorder 3.1 works perfectly.

Hi. While on a Skype call today there were two connection problems (Skype automatically restored the connections). The recorder seemed to continue recording throughout, but only the last 30 minutes of a 60-minute call got recorded. What is the best way to ensure the whole call gets recorded? Skype version is 6.1.0.129, OS is Windows XP

Thanks!

I have Skype 6.1.0.129 installed on a Windows 7 64 bits.
I was using MP3 Skype Recorder v. 3.1.
Yesterday I made a skypeout call and I noticed that only my voice was recorded.
I uninstall the recorder and reinstalled it and the problem still there.
What happened? Why I cannot record my calls properly?
Anything changed in the Skype or in the recorder?

This program records ok..however it records each party on separate channels...ie..during playback, one party is heard on the left side while the other party is heard on the right...is this the way it works? Using 6.1.73.129 and MP3SkypeRecorder 3.1

I have used your program many times before and now I am using it again. I did a test call with the Echo/Sound Test Service and it worked, but whenever I attemptemed to record a call with my friend it says, "Recording ON" but doesn't show the bitrate that it is recording at and will either not make a file at all or an empty file that isn't MP3. I also did many retests with the Echo/Sound Test Service and it has worked everytime with that.

Please try to change destination folder path. Make sure you(your Window's user) have permissions to write/create files in this folder. Check if any personal firewalls are blocking audio stream between Skype and Skype recorder.

Had few issues with Microsoft .NET framework, did the full uninstall + removing the C//Program Files/Mp3 Skype Recorder, reinstalling the Skype and Microsoft .NET framework, and on install still gets me that error and the program doesn't work:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
