This is a topic to report any issues with MP3 Skype Recorder v.1.9.0
Known bugs:

Window 7 (only) - Error and no connection to Skype on the very first launch of the program. Temporary solution - restart MP3 Skype Recorder, the error will disappear. The error will be fixed in next version.

My OS is Windows Vista and Skype Version is 1.9.0.1.
2 days ago it worked twice, then stopped working.

To whom it may concern:
I previously gave you the info of OS (Windows Vista Business) and Skype version #(1.9.0.1.). Have you found out and fixed the problem? It's still not working most of the time. Is a bug-fixed version available online now? I need it work perfectly so I won't miss important conference calls.
Could you let me know (at [email protected]) as soon as the bug-fixed version will become ready?

Hello. We've tested 1.9.0 on different machines and couldn't recreate the problem you had described. Please try to update .Net Framework and Skype to the latest versions. There were some issues that was caused by corrupted .Net Framework installation. Please update it to make sure that it is not the case.

I use the latest release of MP3 Skype Recorder with Windows XP SP3 and I have already used it successfully but I had to reinstall it.
The problem is : on the first start of the program, no window pops up so that I cannot specify what folder to store Skype conversations. Therefore, everytime I start a conversation, I get this message "Error creating destination file". Yet the recording process keeps on and, in the end, a window pops up and displays a link to a file beginning with "2011-01-01...." and which actually does not exist on my hard disk.

When the other call party hangs up before me- the call is not recorded.

In the skype call recordings folder I see the call recording file with 1kb.

It could make, as it is Skype who triggers the recorder (through Skype API) to stop the recording and finilize it. For some reason this is not happenning in your case if I'm correct.

Looks like configuration file is corrupted.
Delete C:\Users\Алексей\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_bseom1xm3zk0xnc4bhdwumdycaacpllp\1.9.0.1\user.config file and restart the program. This should fix the problem.
If it doesn't work for you uninstall recorder using Control Panel -> Add&Remove programs. Make sure that am file deleted. Then install the program again.

the manual recording is

the manual recording is lagging. I need to be able to capture a call starting with the ringing so I can hear the person's greeting. for some reason, i hit the record button and it waits for the person to speak. by this time it is just a second too late and will only capture part of the greeting. can you help? i love this recorder and want to make this work. i thought it said there was immediate recording when you press record.

I am using an MP3 Skype

I am using an MP3 Skype Recorder v.1.9.0.1 for my Skype (PC runs Windows XP) for some time, and I realized that there are instances when it dosen't record anymore. I tried to figure out what might be and I don't find how to fix it. Most of the time it recrods the conversations, but some time for unchange seetings, out of the blue, dosen't record. It is disturbing when I have important calls that are missed recorded. Please let me know how to fix it.

Check if any other programs

Check if any other programs are using Skype API and try to switch them off for a while to see if they causing this. To check this please go to Skype -> Tools(upper menu) -> Options -> Advanced tab -> Manage other programs access to Skype (bottom).
Updating of Skype may be the solution as well. Please make sure that no personal firewall is blocking the connection between Skype and Skype recorder.

Hey there, I just installed

Hey there, I just installed 1.9.0.1 version and using Skype version 5.1.1.112 running on windows vista. Got it to start recording when making a call. Then the popup showing me the recorded call. When click it to play it starts fine (playing on windows media player) but absolutely no sound comes out. Full volume, not muted. No sound???
Would it have anything to do with fact that both MP3 Skype Recorder and just Skype recorder both still seem to be on system? (I downloaded the Skype Recorder and it told me it was on old version and then installed the MP3 Skype Recorder when it redirected me to that page. Didn't say anything about uninstalling anything first and obviously didn't do it automatically.)

MP3 Skype recorder should

MP3 Skype recorder should automatically uninstall previous version. If for some reason it didn't, please uninstall all previous versions manually using Contol Panel -> Add&Remove Programs. Having two recorders simultaneously could lead to recording failure.

Make sure that both speakers

Make sure that both speakers are working. Recording is stereo by default, your voice should be in one speaker and the one you are talking to in another.

I've found that whichever

I've found that whichever audio setting I use, if I'm talking and the person on Skype talks at the same time, the recorder will make me very choppy and lose most of what I'm saying while it keeps the Skype input perfectly. But it does record both sides properly if only one person is speaking at that moment.
I seen there was topic on this before almost a year ago with no conclusion, so what I am wondering is that will this get fixed or is there anything that can be done.
This happens on every computer I have tried it on, 4 in total all running different OS'es including XP, Vista and 7. I have even tried different versions of Skype with no avail, currently I am at the latest version of Skype and MP3 Call Recorder.

It looks like the recorder is already running and minimized to system tray, that's why you couldn't open it by clicking desktop icon. Only one instance of the recorder could be started. Look for Skype recorder icon in system tray and double click it to open the recorder window.

Skype 5.1 stops working when

Skype 5.1 stops working when MP# Skype Recorder tries to connect. I am running windows 7 amd 64bit. MP3 recorde is set to start when windows starts. First and second launched of MP3 Skype didn't recognise it , Third launch Skype recognised it; a few seconds after skype option to allow access was selected Skype popped a window saying skype hs stopped working and close. I tried unchecking th MP3 "start when windows starts" and starting MP3 manually while Skype was rumming: skyp immediatly shut down

well here i'm on Windows7, last version of skype, last version of mp3 skype recorder... It's absolutely great excet that "stereo" and "joint stereo" works exactly the same... me at the left and my skype boys... on the right. i would like to have all in one place, which is what "joint stereo" is for... so is it only me ? i would really love to not have to work the file (joint the stereo myself afterwards)... what should i do? ;)

Stereo differs from Joint stereo the way signal is packed into mp3 file. There are no difference when you are listening. Your voice would be in left and your opponent in right channel. If you want both voices in both channels mixed together - it is mono mode. Sometimes it is easier to understand what was said on the recording when you listening stereo, you can isolate one side to hear the details.

From manual:

Mono - the sound from microphone and incoming sound are mixed to one channel. This mode help to save space
Stereo - the sound from microphone goes to right channel, incoming voice to left channel. This mode could be useful if you want to split channels and take only one, this could be done by any sound editor.
Joint Stereo mode uses M/S stereo coding and transforms the left and right channels into a mid channel and a side channel, hence the name. The mid channel is the sum of the left and right channels, or L + R. The side channel is the difference of the left and right channels, i.e., L − R. This mode usually gives more quality on the same bitrate, but you can't split channels.

I recorded an interview and

I recorded an interview and during the call "error creating destination file" came up. I finished the call and ended the recording but the mp3 file wasn't in the folder I saved them to. I realized I had moved the folder and didn't change this on the "Folder to store skype conversations" option. Is there any way of finding or retrieving the recording?

Unfortunately it stopped working with new version of skype( 5.3.0.111) I tried to reinstall Recorder but it doesn't help, it simply can't find skype. I believe that the last version of skype changed the installation path.

Just checked with the latest version (same 5.3.0.111) and it's working fine!

Please check the following:
Go to Skype upper menu Tools->Options.
Click Advanced Tab in the new window and click Manage other programs' access to Skype.
Check that MP3 Skype recorder is Allowed to use Skype.

Please also check that Skype is installed along with Skype Extras Manager, see this topic http://voipcallrecording.com/no_skype_extras_manager_error
Make sure that no personal firewall is blocking connection between Skype and MP3 Skype Recorder.

Today I was recording calls

Today I was recording calls for a podcast. The two trial calls worked fine, but the actual recording resulted in a file that is 0 bytes. No changes were made to my computer during this time - why would it stop working? Also, is there any way to check that the program is recording properly, because I don't want to have to re-record an hour of talking in the future.

Similar software like Parental Skype recorder or other recorder could interfere with MP3 Skype recorder and cause 0kb records. Make sure that no firewall is blocking connection between Skype and Skype recorder. Recorder uses local ports for getting audio streams and firewall could cause 0kb records.

You can open destination folder to check if the recording is in progress. Make detailed view so you can see file size. Unfortunately you need to refresh folder view manually to see if the size of recording file is changing (View->Refresh).

A minor(?) thing I would like to suggest as "feature" request:
On installation, I am asked to install Net framework 2.0, while I have currently installed some parts of Net 1.0 and Net 4.0, which in total amount to a full Net framework (as for example to run Visual Studio).
Could this requirement be relaxed to work also with simply the _latest_ Net framework to be installed?

I recordeed a two hour call

I recordeed a two hour call with my friend, but when I went to retrieve the MP3, it wasn't there at all. Is there a folder or some place where I can get a restored call? Or does MP3 Skype Recorder not have a backup if the mp3 fails? I would really like to find this file, so any help would be great.

MP3 Skype recorder writes directly to the result mp3 file, no temporary files/folders. If something fails the recording is just stopped.
It looks like you need to upgrade to the latest version of MP3 Skype Recorder. There are some fixes due to the changes in the latest version of Skype.
There is also a new recording file size display, updating in "real-time", so you can monitor recording progress and be sure that the recording is actually done.

I recorded a call, and it only recorded the last 16 minutes of an hour call. Thanks for wasting my time. My friends also have the same issue with this program. Please people, save yourself the fustration and do not download this terrible program.

This is very frustrating. I have used MP3 Skype recorder to create a number of podcasts. This morning's conversation was not saved to the correct folder and I cannot create new files.
I have no idea why this is happening and I have not changed my settings. My recording from this morning never appears to have been saved, despite the program indicating it was working fine during and Skype itself not having been updated. What has happened?
