Q: I'm getting an error System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154) on Skype Call Recorder startup?

at nsSkypeConnector.ConnectorClass..ctor()

at SkypeSoho.Form1.Form1_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)}

A: It is very likely that part of Skype - Skype Extras Manager was not installed during Skype installation. To fix this problem you will need to reinstall Skype and to make sure that Extras Manager will be installed this time.

UPDATE (17 Mar 09) There is a bug in latest version 4.0.0.215 (http://share.skype.com/sites/devzone/2009/03/extrasmanager_in_skype_400215.html). The solution is to download the full version from Skype site http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full and follow the instruction below.

1. uninstall Skype

2. download Skype

3. start installation

4. click Options button on the first Skype installation dialog (please see picture below for Skype v.4)

6. click Install button to finish installation.

It is a strange story. It looks like skype guys forgot to include Extras Manager in this release please see this Skype blog topic. The solution is to download the full version from Skype site http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full and follow the instruction above

I'm seeing this problem with Skype 4.0.32.224 (Skype for Windows, Business Version), so unless they have re-introduced the problem in a later version of Skype, then this may be an issue with something other than Skype...
