Desktop Call Recorder 3.4 is available. It adds a Mute button for your side of the recording and plays recordings in mono by default, so a one ear headset plays the whole call. Earlier 3.x versions update automatically.

Mute your side

A round microphone button next to Pause mutes your side of the recording, for example while you are muted in Zoom or Teams. The other side is still recorded, and the status line reads "Recording, your mic is muted".

Mute stays on when you pause and resume, and it is off again for the next recording. It does not follow the mute button of the call app, so you switch it on separately.

Mono playback

Recordings now play both voices in both ears by default, so a one ear headset plays the whole call. Turn off the Mono switch in the player bar to hear yourself on the left and the other person on the right. This changes playback only. The MP3 file stays stereo.

Playback device

A new Playback device setting in Settings, Audio settings chooses where recordings play in the app. By default the player uses the Windows default device.

Fixes

  • Fixed recordings that lost the other side of the call when a Bluetooth headset reconnected or switched mode during the call. If the headset switches off, the recording carries on with your computer's speakers and microphone.
  • Recordings shorter than 5 seconds are no longer kept. Some call apps open the microphone and speakers for a moment without a call, which left very short recordings in the list.
  • Other small fixes.

The free version transcribes the first 3 minutes of each call. Pro has no limit.
